We both love those -often disintegrated – albums we find on our parents’, grandparents’ shelves, or old photos hidden in drawers.
We like the crispy tracing papers that separate the pages, the little scotch-tape-pockets, the grooves on the paper, that are each brilliant solutions of a vanishing age.
Turning the pages of these old albums we keep on making up stories, guessing by who’s hands they were created and why exactly those pictures have been selected? Luca is often moved and I’m fevered by analogue photography, the types of papers, tones and lights,
This shared enthusiasm started us on that road to open the gates of Wertán Album Factory. Me, as a photographer and Luca as an artist we take our parts in the joint creation.
Luca’s 100% handmade works are preceded by long pondering and countless sketches.
Every album is single and unrepeatable, fits the selected photos.
Luca works with organic materials, she cuts, sews, sticks and draws herself.
